Next year...

-I´ll definately bake lots of these!

I used my basic cookie recipe, rolled a ball, marked the toenails with a teaspoon, added a few wrinkles with a knife, baked - and dusted with cocoa. It took like five minutes to shape 20 toes - i like :)

They flowed out a little in the oven, but i don´t mind - it makes them look like trolls toes! :)

Halloween Pumpkin cake

This is an orange layer cake with light green vanilla/white chocolate filling. There are three cakes inside and it should feed about 20-25 persons. It´s rather big, the plate is 30 cm and it´s about 25 cm high. It is black as the night with no blings or sugar gizmos - just a plain ol´ pumpkin.

I absolutely loved making this and it looks quite awesome in real life :)

Silvery Halloween

Liking Royal icing! :) -Allthough, next time i think i´ll use
templates rather than a couple of needle-points here and there..

The middle tier is made to look like a cast iron fence, i have this
really neat tip i never knew what to use for, but for this it was great!

The dummy is painted with 100% edible silver from Rainbow dust - it
took one bottle, thinned with clear alcohol on a white cake, two coats.

The shine! - I felt like i was decorating my cake-tins!

 In daylight, at Sofisticake.

Halloween Dessert

We had friends over for Halloween last night, and this was our dessert; Baked figs with brown sugar/cinnamon syrup, a rich vanilla icecream (Carte d´or) and chocolate mud-cake bats. A collegue of mine served baked figs for us last month, and i already made them twice since. They are so my kind of dessert; Super easy and extremely tasty!

Delicious!

Recipe: Wash and halve the figs - top with 1 teaspoon brown sugar (or more :-)- sprinkle with cinnamon - bake for 25 minutes at 180degrees. The sugar will soak through the figs and transform into a thick syrup.

For Trick or Treater´s coming round; Witch´s dead fingers.

Final Halloween cake!

I know i made the impression that i was´nt making anymore Halloween-cakes, but this one slipped through the backdoor without me hardly noticing it! Sofie helped, she wrote the tombstones and provided her mum with coffee :)
For Parents' evening at my daughter´s school tonight, whilst the parents were talking, the pupils ate cake! :)

Elegant Halloween Cake

This is a cinnamon/chocolate "Mad-Hatter/Whimsical" cake - Fun but difficult to do, it takes ages to get the off-proportions right! The pumpkin is a dummy, the rest is all edible. Luckily there are leftovers to bring to work tomorrow :-)

I think that has to be it with the Halloween stuff for this year - now whats next, christmas maybe? Yay! :-)

Gothicat

-Or something... This is the Halloween dummy I´ve been talking about..

It´s 24 cm tall and painted black with a sponge on dark grey sugarpaste.  Eyes are painted in different shades of yellow/green with gold- antique gold- and copper lustre dusts. Looks reeeeally cool in RL. Even cooler than this:

The skull is hand-molded in sugarpaste with a dresden tool.

Spidey does´nt show to well on photos, so here he is:

The legs are Royal Icing on wires, since nobody is going to eat it anyway.

So now i´ve made average Halloween cakesrustic Halloween cakes - only thing missing is an elegant Halloween cake... Stay tuned :)

Halloween Coming up.

I´m in Halloween-mode these days - Love these seasons that makes it make sense to do little fun projects now and again - often in the middle of the night.
I made these two are dummies when i was home alone mostly because i need to practice my Royal Icing skills.

Right now i´ve just finished a really dark, gothic -and maybe a little bit scary- Halloween mini cake (also a dummy) in three tiers with some more Royal Icing work. Just need some daylight to photograph it.

Witch´s shoe

This was my shoe attempt no. 2, a (sophisticated?) witch´s shoe.

Haunted House

Inspired by Norman Bates´ house and the haunted house at Euro Disney (which is also inspired by Norman Bates´s house :-). This chocolate cake my daughter brought to school today.
I totally rushed this one - only the front is decorated..
I so loved making this, imagine what i could´ve done with it, if time was´nt a factor!
