In-laws gold weddingcake
A gold weddingcake for my in-laws - I would have liked more gold on it, but the colour was nearly impossible to paint with, not at all as I remember it. But nice to know I still have some skills, I was actually pretty nervous about this one...
It´s a layer-cake with strawberry mousse and lime syrup - nice and light because we had it after a scrumptious dessert-buffet :)
The figurine on top is the original from their wedding 50 (!) years ago, so very nice - makes me sad I didn´t save the one from our own wedding 20 (!!) years ago. But that one was terribly plastic anyway, so never mind.

Sealand Cakeshow 2013
This is my contribution to Sealand Cake Show 2013. I´ve had the image below lying in my "next project" folder for ages, and if wasn´t for Sealand Cakeshow, I never would have come to creating this little piece. -Which was fortunate, because it won first prize gold - much to my surprise! :)

Easter Bunny, Eggs and Carrots
A mini dummy - just playing around with a new type of fondant. Seems like the fondant-issues i´ve had are close to a solution. A major relief, since i have to make the most important cake ever; My daughter´s confirmation-cake a couple of months from now ;)
I´m beginning to look forward to play with fondant again. Loving this!
25.04.2011: Made it to Cakewrecks Sunday sweets-section - Yay! :) I´m so glad Jen headlined it "a perfect combination of elegance and whimsy" as it was just what i was aiming for - thanks Jen! :)

Easiest Fudge recipe ever
In just about 10 minutes you´ll have prepared a tasty chewable fudge following this easy recipe:
Ingredients: 340g dark chocolate chips - 1 can sweetened condensed milk - 1 tablespoon cream - 1 tablespoon butter - 2 tablespoons peanutbutter
Place chips and milk in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on medium power for 2-3 minutes, stirring at 1 minute intervals, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth and thick. Stir in cream, butter and peanutbutter until combined. Pour in a greased baking tin, and leave in a cold place until next day. Cut in bite-sizes.

Makes about 1 kg fudge
Additional; Add marshmellows, chopped nuts, chopped candy canes, dried fruit or try milk/mint chocolate, white chocolate or whatever you feel like :)
I found the recipe here - the reviews are worth reading, many great ideas for this recipe.

For Madeleine
This weekend I spent in the company of fondant, icing and cake tools. It surely has been a while, the last fondant cake I made was in October 2012..
I've made lots of decoration work since 2012, but no real cake projects. So it was fun to try again - I admit I'm a little out of practice, but it went anyway.
The cakes are for my cousin's little pretty girl who had a christening today and they are plain layercakes with raspberry mousse and lemoncurd.
-I have not missed the taste of fondant ...

Vintage Easter
The incredibly cute hare-picture is found at the Graphic fairy
The top is stencilled - my aim was to make the colours look a
bit more patinised, but one only gets one shot at this, so...

Peanutbutter muffins
I found this recipe online that looked interesting. It called for peanutbutter and brown sugar and the divine smell of freshly baked muffins attracted the residents of the house, gladly offering their tastebuds...
We were all quite puzzled to find out that these little wonders tasted of absolutely nothing...?
It helped a little with a fair amount of chocolate ganache.
But they look great, don´t they?
Never mind, they´re all going to the freezer, and will add texture to the next batch of truffles..

Gingerbread Royal Icing house
This years gingerbread house is inspired by techniques found in Eddie Spence´s book.
I love the lightbulbs over the door - they are not from the book though...
The inside of the house is a mess, royal icing all over the "floor" so i had to shield off the windows.
Tip; After baking, the walls dried up with a big curve, but after 8-10 seconds in the microwave I could carefully press them down so they became totally flat. After cooling on the counter with a little weight on top, they held the shape nicely.
I had this "canvas" on the backside of the house, but no idea how to decorate it,
so i played around a little. The lantern is a pattern from the book.
The reindeer and its pup :) -And the scallop piped rope/running bead,
which I´m very proud of, because it was really hard to make!
It doesn´t show very much, but its on the cookie-base along the house.

Christmas tree
Christmas dummy.
Once again, textures from EdibleCreators, love these.
The tree is made by piping royal icing shells on a styrofoam cone and is "recycled" from last year
- I´m so lazy!

Christmas cake
I brought this christmas cake back from Birmingham to share with my colleages come december, and it has not been easy not to take a bite or two because it smells simply divine! -And i know it tastes great, because i had more than a few tastings at the stand...
I love the texture on these cakes. I soaked the cake thoroughly with my husband´s brandy, I don´t know if that´s the way to treat it, but i bet it´s pretty tasty :) Can´t wait - I´ll have to try making these cakes myself.
The cover is marzipan fondant, not too easy to paint on as the wetness draws out in the marzipan.

Chrismas Bauble
Christmas is slowly approaching, thus a good reason for a little recycling - the topper is from last year; worlds-most-expensive-christmas-bauble.
I love my new textures from EdibleCreators - nice price too! -The borders are not cut though, but this can be done with a ruler or as here, with the end of a writing-tip.

Next year...
-I´ll definately bake lots of these!
I used my basic cookie recipe, rolled a ball, marked the toenails with a teaspoon, added a few wrinkles with a knife, baked - and dusted with cocoa. It took like five minutes to shape 20 toes - i like :)
They flowed out a little in the oven, but i don´t mind - it makes them look like trolls toes! :)

I hear Licorice is the new black.......
-Or the new spice to add to almost any recipe, even rye bread!
I´ll settle for the meringues for now - and they are pretty tasty too :)
Especially dipped in milk chocolate....
And set in licorice sprinkles!!
Poor little things, they just had no chance. May they rest in...my tummy :)
Meringue recipe: 3 eggwhites, past. - 200 g confectioner´s sugar - 1 tsp licorice powder
Beat eggwhites to a thick consistency - add sugar and licorice - pour in a piping bag with a nozzle of your choice and pipe onto a baking sheet. Goes in the oven at 100dg for an hour.
