Scandinavian Cakeshow 2010

I will not participate in Scandinavian Cakeshow´s competition this year because i won last year, but i´m invited to bring a cake for table of honour, so this years project will just be a small, humble creation.  -Yeah right...
This is what i´m using for decorating my cake this year - oh, almost forgot; and my best
friend, the sugargun and the 5-petal silicone flower mold. Allthough it does´nt seem much,
this will be the most detailled cake i´ve ever made. -Let´s hope it´ll look good too!

When the cakes are finished, the bottom of the top tier will show a bit (if you look),
so that´s were i started - covering the bottom of the cakes. I needed a bit more height,
so i used 2 thick layers of marzipan on both cakes.

The colours are not up for discussion, but they will look great in the end.

Sugar decorations; little red flowers - amongst the
primroses, broches, black leaves, hearts etc.

I love this first step - great design and not too hard to do.
Too bad it´ll hardly show after i´m done with it.

Starting to mess things up...

A sneek-peek

The cake is Oilily "Blue Sparkles" inspired. -And yes, it is slightly tilted.

It was loads of fun, breaking this design down to pieces and afterwards
transferring it onto a cake. Where to start, oh where to start!

So many details - and i even left out a few, afraid of overdoing the whole thing.
I hope you like it - i´m crazy about this design and how well it fits a cake!

The danish table: These are all cakes from danish cake-enthusiasts. Nice collection!

The AMAzing Carol Haycox - Doesn´t like being photografed, i told her
it comes with the fame! ;) - I could sit and stare and listen to her for
hours (i think i did) she´s such a great personality.

Someone was driving veeeeery carefully back to Denmark!
Fortunately not too much damage was done. No worries though, these dummies
have done their duty, and may have to get stripped anyway. Life is hard! :)

Victorian Lady

I made this doll a couple of years ago and i finally had a good reason to make her a cake. This dummy was created just for her so i could take her to Scandinavian Cakeshow.

Colours: Americolor´s Warm chocolate, Avocado, Ivory, super red and Edible Art Lemon Gold diluted in clear alcohol.

Wedding cake for my cousin

Today my cousin is getting married and i got to make the cake!

It has behaved so very well - everything went on as pearls on a string,
ain´t that nice for a change! ;-)

Blackberries

For DH´s birthday.

 A layer-cake with raspberry mousse and vanilla-creme
topped with melted Toblerone and whipped creme.

The band around the cake is regular marzipan.

White Tiger

This one should´ve entered a competition today, but is most likely to end in the garbage can. On a distance it may look ok, but up close it has LOTS of flaws, sediments, tiny airbubbles en masse, and it turbo-sweats! On top of that, the paint slides off leaving my sharp stribes muddy, and it just won´t dry up!
Fortunately this was one of my own projects, it would´ve killed me if it should´ve been for an occasion of any kind.
It´s a white cake with white chocolate ganace and chopped Marabou chocolate with candy-glazed sea-salt almonds.
I´ll go scrape off and toss the poor quality-fondant and then i think i´ll crumble up the whole thing and make truffles or something.

Update: Now THIS is more like it!! :)
